ITS HERE!!!!!

Alright everyone, gather round.  Time to grab your favourite cuppa (tea, coffee, other beverage) and get cozy.

Ready.....

First, let me tell you about my charms.  You saw a sneak peek here.  Did you guess what they are yet?  No?!?

Let me introduce my Magic Wands:

According to Wikipedia : A wand (sometimes magic wand) is a thin, hand-held stick or rod made of wood, stone, ivory, or metals like gold or silver. Long versions of the magic wand are usually styled in forms of staves or scepters, often with designs or an orb of a gemstone forged on the top.

I wanted my wands to have old world magic instilled in them.  Each wand was hand formed in bronze metal clay and then carved - each one is unique.  All of them are topped with a gem.

When they came out of the kiln, they had such pretty colours.  However, the colours do not usually last.  So I had to add patina to ensure the effect that I wanted.

Out of the kiln:

Adding the patina:

The charms are sealed to ensure longevity of the patina and polish. Do you like the fuzzy edge fairy tale effect on the photo?

I think my favourite is the second from the left in the bottom row.

In a previous post, I described how our hostess, Jen Cameron, gathered up all the charms from each participant and then parcelled out 10 to each of us.

Each of us made a total of 11 charms and the Eleventh Charm from each of us is actually the important charm. Jen has organized an auction of the Art Charms for charity!

The whole purpose of this swap is to raise awareness and money for Beads of Courage.  Beads of Courage is an organization set up by a nurse to help children and their families who are dealing with serious illness.  It has grown from one hospital in Arizona to 240 hospitals in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand and Japan.  There is much more information on the Beads of Courage website.

I received the fourth charm from the left on the top row, and I absolutely adore it so much. I'm a huge lover of wands, symbols, folklore, and more. This little wand just delights me. She'll probably go on a bracelet to be worn at the pulse on my wrist. Keep making the world sparkle with your talent!

Leona Smith

Aww, what a nice comment, thank you! Use your wand wisely.

Lori Anderson
